We are thrilled to announce integrated cellular connectivity is now a standard feature for the ChronoTrack Kairos!
Moving forward, all new Kairos controllers will ship with an internal cellular modem pre-installed. For our existing timing partners, we are actively shipping out the cellular modem upgrade for all previously purchased Kairos units, featuring an easy, straightforward installation process so you can get upgraded quickly.
This update represents a major leap in operational simplicity: Kairos automatically detects available internet connections and routes network traffic without any manual setup or user intervention. When multiple connectivity options are present on-site, the system intelligently manages them using a prioritized failover sequence (hardwired Ethernet, followed by cellular, and then Wi-Fi) to guarantee your data stream remains online.
Additionally, this integration allows a single cellular-enabled controller to act as a versatile local hotspot, sharing its connection with up to eight nearby devices (such as other timing controllers or scoring laptops) eliminating the need for separate mobile hotspots on-course. The modem utilizes a standard full-size SIM card and is confirmed plug-and-play with AT&T, Simbase, and Hologram, with support for Verizon, T-Mobile, Google Fi, and International providers in final partner testing.
This upgrade is built to address the growing market demand for real-time participant tracking and richer on-course visibility. Today’s timers are expected to deliver rapid split-point updates and high-frequency tracking data to spectators, coordinators, and medical teams. By combining robust cellular connectivity with Kairos’s ultra-portable, modular design, we’ve created the ideal tool for remote deployment.
Timers can now segment their hardware and deploy fully connected checkpoints anywhere on the course in minutes, satisfying the need for complete event visibility without the heavy lift.
